It never gets old

We have a lot of traditions at 60 Mallard Trail. We love them all.  They never get old.  Here are three.

The sunset.

We take the boat over to our friend's place - a one minute ride and we see this.  It never gets old.

Monkey Bread.

We make it every morning we can get away with.  It never gets old.

Chalk Board.

We welcome our guests, and our guests love to write on it.  It never gets old.

Three Years, Really?

Seems like we've been here forever.  We LOVE 60 Mallard Trail and are there most every weekend.

Here are some shots since my last post.  Click on Tom to see them.

I'll try to do better.

Next, a run down of all the things we have and have not accomplished at 60 Mallard Trail.

Interwebs on Mallard Trail

Yep, we took the wintertime plunge at Lake Martin.  Plunge into cyber space, that is.

To connect or not to connect has been an issue since the beginning.  Tom decided to dive right in.

This week we connected both to the internet and to cable TV.  The rationale:

We needed a bribe to get Foster to the Lake when he can't wake board or tube.

I love my computer time - and I DON'T work, much, when I'm on the computer on the weekend.

but mostly, WE LOVE FALL FOOTBALL~

And since Tom is the uber of uberest of geeks, we are all set up for wireless surfing on the deck.  What's not to love?

So, here's to testing the waters. . . .

2011 Lake Goals

I recently posted this on my Facebook page, but it belongs here. I've made a few adjustments~

2011 Lake Goals

  • Finish rearranging the bedrooms to make a colossal "Yutes" Room.
  • Help Foster plan fun weekends in the colossal Yutes Room.
  • Trey to learn to pull skiers.
  • Tom to learn to ski with Trey driving.
  • Improve the walking trail to the dock.
  • Get to the farmer's market more.
  • Have a picnic at three new places around the lake.
  • Figure out which trees to remove to improve the view without diminishing the Fall colors.
  • Have more planned weekends with new guests, including a CADC girls' weekend.
  • Have a 2-degrees Party - invite all lake friends and they must invite a friend to double down our lake friends.
  • Find enough lake friends with pontoon boats to have a sunset dinner on the lake.
  • Have a sunset dinner on the lake.
  • Catch enough fish to fry.
  • Have a fish fry.
  • Convince my mother to stay the night.
  • Attend church in Alex City with Mike and Dara
  • Plant lots of perennials.

Whew, that's a lot! Come on Spring Break and Summer - where are you?

Then and Now

The Kitchen

80's Yellow and in your face BLUE! kitchen into a "tea bag" green and cream neutral. Yep, that's the name of the Sherwin Williams color = TEA BAG! The boys thought it was hilarious - and NOT because they like politics. New hardware that we bought in bulk, total kitchen remake = $150.

The Dock
We decked over one boat slip to make a party dock. All we need is a disco ball. We properly discarded the beaded Styrofoam floating dock and had a new one made. After the water went down we discovered that the whole thing needed better support. We braced it with the big pole in front and re-enforced all the interior supports. There went the jet ski money~ I won't give you the total dock re-make cost, it's embarrassing.

I'm going to pay more attention to the orientation of the before shots before I take future after shots. There are a lot more of these.
